Happy 59th birthday to the one and only Robin Wright — born April 8, 1966 in Dallas, Texas!

Before she became one of the most powerful women in television, Robin Wright was winning hearts in the 1980s — and laying the foundation for an extraordinary career that would only grow stronger over the decades.

She started out as Kelly Capwell on the NBC soap Santa Barbara (1984–1988), earning multiple Daytime Emmy nominations and proving she was far more than just another pretty face in daytime TV. Then came her breakthrough: the radiant Princess Buttercup in the beloved The Princess Bride (1987). That role didn’t just make her an ’80s icon — it established her as a serious talent with on-screen magnetism and timeless charm.

By the 1990s, Wright had traded tiaras for grit — earning acclaim for her role in Forrest Gump (1994) and making a name for herself in complex, emotional dramas like She’s So Lovely and Loved. And the momentum only built from there.

From indie standouts to big-budget hits (Unbreakable, Moneyball, Wonder Woman, Blade Runner 2049), Robin kept showing her incredible range. But it was her fierce turn as Claire Underwood in House of Cards (2013–2018) that redefined her career. Not only did she win a Golden Globe and make Emmy history — she demanded equal pay and got it.

She’s also stepped behind the camera — directing films like Land (2021) and key episodes of Ozark. Whether she’s in front of or behind the lens, Robin Wright continues to lead with intelligence, elegance, and raw power.

Here’s to the woman who gave us Buttercup, Claire Underwood, General Antiope, and so many unforgettable roles.
