Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom have called it quits after 9 years together?
It’s fair to say this past year hasn’t been very kind to Katy Perry. Her single “Woman’s World” instantly became a joke, her album 143 was widely panned, her Lifetimes tour went viral for all the wrong reasons, and people made fun of her for becoming one of the first glamorous women to go to space—or whatever exactly that was. On top of it all, multiple reports now suggest that she and her fiancé, Orlando Bloom, may be headed for a breakup.
According to People, the harsh media coverage hasn’t helped their relationship, especially since they’ve been engaged since 2019. “Katy was incredibly frustrated after seeing the reception of her new album,” a source told the magazine. “It stressed her out. Orlando was supportive, but it did cause some friction between them.” Another insider added that “she was also let down by some of the tour reviews. That’s put a strain on their relationship.” A bit of stress can often be sorted out with a good couples therapist, but some other sources suggest it’s much more serious. “Page Six” spoke with a blunt source who told them, “It’s over.” According to that person, they’re holding off on announcing the split until Perry finishes her tour in December.
A few days later, someone told People that the pair’s romance is “pretty much done.” Perry has been on her world tour in Australia, while Bloom was spotted with their daughter, Daisy. Depending on your perspective, that could mean either that things between them aren’t as bad as the tabloids make them out to be, or that they’re starting to figure out co-parenting alongside her tour.
The most recent issue seems to involve Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez’s upcoming wedding. Perry can’t attend because of her tour, but sources say Bloom still plans to go. That would perhaps be fine if he were close with the couple, but Perry is reportedly much better friends with Sánchez. “Katy feels like they’re really her friends more than his,” a source told the Daily Mail, “and yet he’s going to the wedding.” Out of respect for their friendship, Sánchez might want to rethink that invite.
If all this is accurate, this wouldn’t be the first time Perry and Bloom have taken a break. They started dating back in 2016, split after a year, then reunited in 2018. Bloom proposed in 2019, and Daisy was born in 2020. Perry gushed about their relationship during her 143 press tour, even making a (widely mocked) comment on Call Her Daddy about what happens when Bloom does the dishes.
This time around, things don’t look so promising. Perry has recently been seen without her engagement ring in Instagram posts, and Bloom will reportedly spend this weekend with Leonardo DiCaprio. Everyone ought to brace themselves for a Notes-app breakup post and a heartfelt pop album about Perry’s very rough year.
